Review and Highlights
Owls of the World with HawkQuest
Over 120 neighbors of all ages attended Willowbrook Wildlife Committee’s educational program in Arington Park on September 18, 2021—Owls of the World by HawkQuest.
It was thrilling to see the five international Owl ambassadors from HawkQuest up close and personal, and we learned so much too! Here are a few take-aways (or fly-aways) from our program. Click on the photo to read more.

The Changing Season and
What it Means to Wildlife and You
Saturday, October 26, 2019
Jerrie McKee, our District Wildlife Officer and Jennifer Standlee, Education Coordinator from Colorado Parks & Wildlife came to Willowbrook to talk about our local critters and what we can look forward to as Autumn approaches. Attended by over 30 Willowbrook residents, we learned how the diets, behaviors, and habitats for our resident Mule Deer, Elk (we are hoping they will return), Bobcats, Mountain Lions, and Coyotes change throughout the season. Don Ireland, Habitat Hero!
June 19, 2019
The Willowbrook Wildlife Committee was honored and excited to welcome Don Ireland from the Denver Botanic Gardens and Audubon Rockies to describe his journey as a Habitat Hero and the impact communities have on our environment. Don gave us tons of ideas for simple steps we can take to make a difference for our wildlife, pollinators, water supply, and wallets.

HawkQuest
June 8, 2019
Over 90 Willowbrook residents of all ages attended this outstanding educational program. Visiting raptors included American Kestrel, Harris Hawk, Great Horned Owl, Peregrine Falcon, and Bald Eagle! HawkQuest's Birds of Prey were either injured or imprinted (reliant on humans) and have been rehabilitated, but they are unable to be released back into the wild. Now they are Wildlife Ambassadors! Even our own neighborhood Red Tailed Hawk participated from her nest in a nearby tree! What can we do in Willowbrook to protect our neighborhood Birds of Prey? (1) Leave dead trees and snags in your yard rather than having them removed--Birds rely on them for perching and nesting; (2) Pick up trash so birds don't eat it or get tangled; (3) Don't use toxic weed killers and pesticides that trickle up the food chain; and (4) Habitat loss is the primary threat to the decline of raptors, so we must be advocates to protect the natural landscape. Thanks to everyone who attended, thanks to the Willowbrook Wildlife Committee for sponsoring the program, and thank you HawkQuest!
